Building the future of food.

A student community promoting a more sustainable food future.

Our Mission

We're planting seeds for the future of food โ€” one student, one campus, one conversation at a time.

Open to every major

No experience needed

Science meets culture

Two networks, one chapter

Who We Are

Two movements.
One chapter.

BU Plant-Based unites two national student networks under one BU roof.

Our Pillars

  • Deliver accessible programming (workshops, speaker events, journal-style discussions) that assumes no prior knowledge and welcomes any major.
  • Break down disciplinary silos by connecting science, policy, business, nutrition, and culinary perspectives in a single conversation.
  • Advance alternative protein learning at BU by advocating for coursework, modules, and guest lectures over time.
  • Curate and circulate external resources, fellowships, and reading so members can dive deeper into the ecosystem.
  • Foster belonging and social connection among our members.
  • Maintain low-barrier entry points to foster belonging from day one.
  • Build partnerships across BU and with peer APP and Plant Futures chapters to extend what we can offer to our members and beyond.
  • Sustain active, engaged membership through a points-based engagement system.
  • Create career development opportunities โ€” panels, networking, and industry connections for members across majors and disciplines.
  • Generate awareness and excitement about the alternative protein movement through events, tabling, and social presence.
  • Connect members with mentors, role models, and professionals already in the field.
  • Help members map pathways from their own discipline and skills to apply to the future of food.
  • Support and surface student research opportunities in alternative proteins.
  • Catalyze entrepreneurship and student-led projects.
  • Encourage hands-on experimentation and exploration.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration on real problems.
